Altair Semiconductor a provider of LTE chipsets, announced that its FourGee-3800/6300 Category 4 (CAT-4) Chipset has been selected by Intelliport Solutions, a provider of M2M (Machine-to-Machine) communication solutions, to be implemented in Intelliport’s new M2M gateway.
“Intelliport is at the forefront of M2M communication solutions,” said Peter Batorfi, CEO of Intelliport. “To meet the demands of this this evolving market, a low cost and highly reliable solution with round-the-clock connectivity is paramount. With a proven record for reliability and performance, Altair’s chipset was the ideal choice to provide LTE connectivity in our new gateway.”
This collaboration will serve to improve the M2M capabilities of the already popular line of 450MHz gateways for connecting Intelliport’s outdoor video surveillance cameras. Each gateway can control up to four IP cameras, whether wireless or PoE (Power over Ethernet). With the addition of Altair’s chipset, they can now handle two simultaneous video streams for each camera – one for saving on the device’s built-in storage, the other for real-time transfer on the LTE network. This allows users to receive real-time alerts from the intelligent cameras regarding movement, sabotage, or line crossing.
“We are pleased that Intelliport has selected Altair’s chipset to connect its new M2M offering,” said Eran Eshed, Co-Founder and Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Altair Semiconductor. “This is Altair’s latest foray into the M2M and IoT market and underscores that LTE will prove significant in addressing the needs of Machine-to-Machine connectivity.”
