The emergence of the 450MHz band as the new LTE band provides a huge opportunity for global operators as they face a shortage of spectrum resources. With advantages such as wide coverage and relatively low cost, this is the best solution for wireless bandwidth deployment with large coverage requirements.
Ukko Mobile, along with some of Finland’s largest transportation companies like the Finnish National Railways VR Group as its customers, aims to offer its nationwide LTE service initially to the enterprise, business to business, governmental sectors and transportation. During the next six months, Ukko Mobile plans to launch an innovative prepaid-based family-oriented wireless broadband access service targeting more remote areas and locations with sporadic peaks in demand such as the 700,000 summer cottages in Finland.
Ukko Mobile’s LTE 4G network offers countrywide LTE coverage and stable data connections to enterprises and government bodies also outside of town and urban areas. “The superior coverage area of our network combined with the very low latency of the new LTE technology provides excellent user experience and enables remote workload execution all across Finland”, say Mr. Antti Pellinen, CEO of Ukko Mobile Inc.
Huawei LTE 450MHz network solutions can not only facilitate the smooth migration of CDMA 450MHz to LTE 450MHz, but also re-use legacy network resources like base stations, sites, power, and antennas to help decrease network investment.
Huawei continues to contribute to the industry development of LTE 450MHz standards. In 2013, Huawei, together with industry partners, made 450MHz a standard 3GPP LTE band (band 31), and unveiled the LTE450MHz chipset and terminal. Huawei is one of the founders of 450MHz Alliance and has spearheaded many LTE 450MHz industry events.
The deployment of LTE 450MHz commercial networks by Ukko Mobile in Finland will lift the curtain on global LTE 450MHz commercial deployment, thus, bringing mobile broadband services to more and more people.
