Together for a safe energy transition in Germany
Netze BW supports 450connect in rolling out the nationwide 450MHz platform for the digitization of energy and water management and other critical infrastructures. The EnBW subsidiary will set up 170 radio stations in Baden-Württemberg in the near future.
Cologne/Stuttgart, February 9, 2022. The new 450MHz platform of the 450connect will play a decisive role in the successful implementation of the energy transition in Germany in the future. Because it allows highly available and redundant voice and data communication. It is indispensable for the system integration of renewable energies. Netze BW is responsible for setting up the radio sites throughout Baden-Württemberg and in parts of Bavaria. It also organizes all the necessary coordination, permits and construction work on site. On the basis of these radio locations, 450connect, as the license holder and radio network operator, sets up the 450MHz radio network and thus ensures nationwide network operation. The 450MHz platform will be fully self-sufficient from existing telecom networks. This makes them particularly reliable and redundant. Emergency power systems at the radio locations ensure that the 450MHz radio network remains available for up to 72 hours even in the event of a power failure.
Netze BW is already implementing radio sites at suitable locations in Baden-Württemberg, which will be integrated into the nationwide 450MHz platform of 450connect via three nodes in Karlsruhe, Stuttgart and Ulm. The EnBW subsidiary takes on one of the largest projects for the provision of radio sites. In some other regions of Germany, 450connect also implements radio sites in cooperation with energy supply companies that are shareholders of 450connect. In addition, 450connect cooperates with independent mast providers to set up the 450MHz radio network.
