Ericsson, Vivo and Raízen agree to develop IoT in agribusiness

Ericsson, Vivo, and Raízen announced on Wednesday agreement to develop the so-called “Internet of Things” (IoT) in the agribusiness sector, using the 450 MHz band in the fourth generation (4G) mobile service, in the region of Piracicaba (SP).

“Ericsson will contribute its leadership in mobile technologies and software platforms to IoT, while Vivo will lead its mobile network using the 450 MHz frequency. On the other hand, the partnership relies on Raízen’s expertise and agricultural infrastructure and facilitation and academic application of technologies with the support of EsalqTec, “says a joint statement from Vivo and Ericsson.

According to the companies, the use of internet in the agricultural equipment and machinery can generate an increase of productivity and reduction of operational costs.

The Internet technology of Things allows electronic devices to exchange information over the Internet, collecting data and allowing automation of functions.
