Together into a secure future: 450 MHz community met at “450connect Municipal Utilities Day 2023”
Meeting point for the 450 MHz community in Germany / more than 280 participants as well as almost 40 manufacturers of 450 MHz terminal equipment on site in Cologne / rollout of the 450 MHz radio network and voice communication of 450connect as well as numerous other topics of the 450 MHz ecosystem in focus
According to the motto “Together into a secure future”, more than 280 visitors together with almost 40 manufacturers came together on September 14th for the event “450connect Municipal Utilities Day 2023”,organized by the German radio service provider 450connect at the Pullman Cologne Hotel in Cologne. 450connect’s “Municipal Utilities Day 2023” has become a permanent part of the 450 MHz community in Germany.
“The large number of visitors, the lively exchange, for example also between the terminal manufacturers with the participating module manufacturers Cavli, Quectel and Unitac, and the intensive technical discussions at our event underline the great interest of the 450 MHz community in our future-proof radio network in Germany,” says Frederik Giessing, Managing Director 450connect.
The event covered the whole range of 450 MHz topics. Frederik Giessing kicked off with an update on the launch and rollout of the 450 MHz radio network. In accordance with the clear roadmap for the development of the nationwide 450 MHz radio network, which is divided into four phases until 2025, the first radio sites and sections of the nationwide backbone have been put into operation since the first quarter of this year. In addition, the end-to-end integration of the LTE radio service took place and the first phase of the IT systems has been completed. “Also as planned, our LTE450 radio network started operations in the first areas of Germany at the end of March 2023 to enable for customer testing within the productive systems,” adds 450connect managing director Giessing. Other “ 450connect Municipal Utilities Day 2023” highlights: Markus Jakob, head of customer management at 450connect, provided information on the 450connect customer portal, and Christian Freudenmann, manager for M2M products at 450connect, presented updates on the smart grid terminal market, among other things.
In addition to the vendor marketplace, where well-known manufacturers such as Advantech, Cisco Systems, Cyrus Technology, DIGI International, Garderos, GE Vernova, Hitachi Energy Germany, Nokia Solutions and Networks, PPC, RugGear, SolutionforPros and Wago presented their products and expertise, voice communication was also one of the main topics. “For operators of critical infrastructures, it is essential to be able to rely on secure and reliable communication solutions such as the 450 MHz radio network at all times”, Giessing continues. Sebastian Sichelschmidt, head of product management at 450connect, presented the fail-safe 450connect voice service, which works as an end-to-end solution, without any customer infrastructure of its own.
The event showed once again that strong partners and broad, mutual support in a vibrant 450 MHz ecosystem are the best foundation for a secure future, where today’s challenges such as digitalisation, decarbonisation and decentralisation, become tomorrow’s solutions. “Our heartfelt thanks go to all visitors for their positive response, as well as to the numerous manufacturers of 450 MHz terminal equipment who spared no effort to answer all the participants’ questions during the marketplace”, says Frederik Giessing.
