New Embedded Antenna Expands Design Options for 450 MHz IoT Devices
The Antenna Company has introduced the AC82101, a new surface-mount chip antenna designed for embedded cellular IoT applications. The antenna combines support for 450–470 MHz with wideband cellular coverage from 617 MHz to 6000 MHz, enabling a single antenna solution for both long-range 450 MHz connectivity and broadband cellular fallback, including LTE-M (Cat-M1), NB-IoT, and emerging 5G NR RedCap/eRedCap technologies.
With a compact 26 x 70 x 3 mm form factor, the antenna delivers strong performance in the 450 MHz band, with a peak gain of 1.7 dBi, efficiency of 52%, and a VSWR of 2.7. The design offers excellent resilience to ground plane size variations, simplifying integration across a wide range of device platforms.
The AC82101 targets applications where reliable coverage, compact size, and ease of integration are critical. Typical use cases include smart electricity meters, utility infrastructure, asset tracking devices, vending machines, and other industrial IoT deployments.
The surface-mount package supports both reflow and hand-solder assembly, making it suitable for high-volume manufacturing as well as rapid prototyping and development.
The AC82101 is now available for order.
