SAN DIEGO, Jan. 7, 2015 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — Today the 450 MHz Alliance announced that Alcatel-Lucent, one of the world’s leading providers of IP, cloud and ultra-broadband access technologies, and AINMT Holdings AB (“AINMT”), a mobile operator in Scandinavia, have joined as board members. The 450 MHz industry is gaining momentum, thanks to availability of LTE450, and the two new member companies will bring their respective expertise and leadership to the ecosystem.
Alcatel-Lucent has been a developer of 450 MHz-band solutions for more than 15 years, and became one of the first vendors to deploy 4G LTE technology in the 450 MHz band.
AINMT has always been a leader and an innovator in mobile services utilizing advantages of the 450 MHz band. The company started offering true mobile broadband and M2M applications long before it became mainstream.
“It is our pleasure to welcome to the 450 MHz Alliance two such respected international companies as Alcatel-Lucent and AINMT. Their joining provides a clear indication that the 450 MHz ecosystem is on the rise and holds a lot of potential”, said Igor Virker, chair of the Alliance.
Denis Fauconnier, Director Wireless Strategy, Alcatel-Lucent said: “Collaboration within the industry can be as beneficial as innovating on your own. Working with AINMT to roll-out one of the first 450 MHz-band LTE networks is a great example of this, and one that also highlights our strong leadership in mobile ultra-broadband at a time of ever-increasing demand for data and ultra-broadband access services. By joining the 450 MHz Alliance we will be able to develop even stronger relationships within the 450 MHz community to help drive the development of networks in this band.”
“We are pleased to be joining the 450 Alliance and excited to cooperate closer with the other operators and suppliers involved with the alliance. We believe that 450MHz is an ideal complementary band to address the explosion in demand for mobile data going forward, in addition the availability of LTE on 450MHz will drastically improve the economics of operating on this band”, said Gösta Kallner, CTO of AINMT.
