German regulator (Bundesnetzagentur) published the preliminary key elements for the future use of the 450MHz license, after the current allocation expires on the 31st December 2020 and asked interested parties to submit their interest in the spectrum. The deadline for the submission was 28th February 2020 and the received statements and commentaries have already been published on the website of the regulator.

German regulator received 132 statements, overwhelmingly from the utilities and other owners of critical infrastructures. Also, 450MHz Alliance and selected its members took the opportunity to comment about the future use of the 450MHz spectrum in Germany.

The further process and allocation decision are subject to the decision by federal government whether the spectrum is to be made available for use by critical infrastructures (utilities, public transportation, healthcare, etc.) or by public safety authorities and organizations. This discussion has continued in Germany for the last two years and delayed the spectrum re-allocation after 2020, also impacting the whole 450MHz industry worldwide. Therefore, 450 MHz Alliance welcomes publishing of the key elements very much by the regulator and looks forward to the final decision about the 450MHz usage in the Germany in the coming months.
