The four transmission system operators (TSO) have written to the Chef of the Chancellor Office Helge Braun (CDU) to highlight the importance of the 450 MHz frequency for the energy sector. The four companies put forward many already presented arguments, such as the challenge of integrating millions of new decentralized producers and consumers such as electric cars or heat pumps into the grid system – while at the same time ensuring the safety and balance of the electrical system. The industry needs the LTE mobile radio network in the frequency range of 450 MHz for communication and control of such assets. The four companies also point out that the PPDR authorities have already a usable LTE-capable frequency bands (e.g., in 700 MHz). The Chancellery should therefore work for an award to the energy industry.
